Sprawling 800 acres, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia’s first fully-integrated green township as certified by Green Building Index (GBI), and a Low Carbon City as certified by the Malaysian Institute of Planners. Sunway City Kuala Lumpur was built on a tin-mining wasteland and is a product of outstanding rehabilitation and restoration efforts. Located just 20 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur city centre, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur has a built-up area of more than 60 million square feet comprising world-class facilities, and attracts some 42 million visits every year.
It encompasses an enviable portfolio of more than 11,000 residential and commercial units, in addition to the multi award-winning hospitality, retail, leisure, healthcare and education components. Our city also aims to be self-sustainable through our assets such as maintaining urban forestry, rehabilitating our two lakes located in Sunway South Quay and Sunway Lagoon via our water treatment plant, which allows the water collected to be used for our commercial buildings, launching our Sunway Seeding Inspiration and Leadership via Knowledge (SILK) corporate initiative to teach students to create their own urban farms, as well as a plethora of other initiatives to be a smart sustainable city.
Sunway City Kuala Lumpur is also regarded as a safe city, and aims to become a model smart sustainable city, nurturing the communities that live, learn, work, and play within it by creating an ecosystem that will inspire a healthy, safe and interconnected society for generations to come. Today, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur remains one of Southeast Asia’s premier tourist destinations.
The Selangor Town and Country Planning Development recently recognised Sunway City Kuala Lumpur as an Inclusive Development. In addition to that, in 2017, Sunway City Kuala Lumpur was recognised as Top Smart City Initiative in Asia Pacific excluding Japan, under the Smart Buildings category by IDC Government Insights’ IDC Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA). It also won best township with “The Five Elements Development” Award at the StarProperty.my Awards 2016.
