Sunway is paving the way towards sustainability by laying out long-term plans in its push to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, a concerted effort across its businesses.
Aligning with the group’s vision, Sunway Property actively engages their community through various green activities, including urban farming workshops, educational talks during World Environment Day, as well as Earth Hour, which was reignited among its communities after a pause during the pandemic. As the Master Community Developer, championing sustainability has always been ingrained in Sunway Property’s vision.
Though turning off the lights for one hour has minimal immediate impact to our earth, it promotes climate action and spreads awareness on the importance of taking care of the environment. Most importantly, this shows that every effort we take collectively as a community can make a difference.
Other Sunway businesses had also participated in the movement, including Sunway Lagoon, Sunway Hotels, Sunway University, and Sunway Pyramid. Together, these businesses switched off their non-essential lights, placing Sunway City Kuala Lumpur in darkness for an hour. This acts as a statement of support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as a stand against the climate crisis. Staying true to its values of building and delivering more than just homes, this initiative was a mere glimpse of Sunway Property’s effort in enhancing value for all its developments and surrounding environment as the Master Community Developer, determined to champion community enrichment and sustainability in all its projects. The developer looks forward to hosting more green-focused activities to educate its community, and encourage them to be more actively involved in conversations surrounding planetary health.
